On May 7, 1998, the Gunpo City Culture and Arts Center opened its doors, reflecting the hopes and desires of Gunpo citizens for culture and the arts. Constructed on a 16,968㎡ lot located on Dangsan-ro 196 (1101, Sanbon-dong) in Gunpo City, the total area of its building is 24,926㎡, with two basement floors and four ground floors. The Centercontains multi-purpose facilities, including a grand performance hall, small performance hall, international conference hall, exhibition hall and rehearsal rooms for orchestra, choir and dance. Since the opening of the Gunpo City Culture and Arts Center, it has satisfied citizens' needs for cultural activities through the development of diversified and special programs and the hosting of numerous performances.

As a result of the participation and support of the citizens of Gunpo, the Gunpo City Culture and Arts Centerwas selected as the Best Developing Center a reward presented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism which elevated its status as a high-quality culture and arts center. We wish to thank all involved for their support and dedication, without which such a grand achievement would not have been possible.

The Gunpo City Culture and Arts Center operatesa performance mileage system to continually improve the Center facilities, and enhance performance marketing and promotion of various kinds of events in 2009, to provide comprehensive festive services spanning performance, exhibition, and experience activities. We will also extend these cultural enjoyment opportunities to the citizens of Gunpo City, and improve their quality of life through the provision of special and diversified programs, including increasing the number of culture family memberships, combination performances of Western music and Korean music, special ticket sales for low income families and the Happy Time 11:00 PM Concerts for housewives.

We will spare no efforts in becoming the best culture and arts center in Korea, providing a living cultural space by reflecting the advice and opinions of both professionals and citizens, whose daily lives will be infused with a distinctly cultural fragrance. We hope that all citizens of Gunpo Cityand other related people will offer their continuous support and cooperation for the future development of the Gunpo City Culture and Arts Center.
